GARDEN CITY, New York – The American International College baseball team fell in a pair of games at Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday, March 26.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1:

  • In the bottom of the second inning, the Panthers took a 1-0 lead when Rende doubled to left center with Feliz on second.
  • Junior Chad Lavelle had one of his two hits in the top of the third when he knocked the ball to center on the first pitch he saw. Classmate Alejandro Mosquera tallied a hit in the next inning with a single to left center.
  • The Panthers added a run in the bottom of the fifth with a hit off the bat of Draskin which allowed Alifano to score. In their next at-bat, Adelphi added a pair of runs to secure the 4-0 win.

Game 2:

  • The first inning and a half of play went by quickly as the first nine batters of the game went down in order.
  • The Panthers changed that in the bottom of the second as they scored eight runs on five hits to take the lead. They added another in the bottom of the third.
  • In the top of the fifth Mosquera dug into the box as the leadoff hitter and went deep to left center to put AIC on the board.
  • Adelphi's Matos went deep in the bottom of the fifth to extend his team's lead.
  • Mosquera stepped back into the box in the top of the sixth. With senior Brandon Gaul on first and Lavelle on second Mosquera doubled down the third baseline and the two runners scored.
