Baseball season ends in NE10 Quarterfinal at Franklin Pierce

RINDGE, New Hampshire - The American International College baseball team had its incredible run end in the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament Quarterfinal with an 11-2 loss to Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday, May 9.

AIC concludes the season with a 23-24 record; the 23 wins is the fifth-most in a season in program history.

In the first, the Ravens scored on a hit batter followed by a pair of singles, but AIC tied the game in the top of the second as Chad Lavelle hit a two-out double to left and Tyler Ziemak singled into the left-center gap to bring him home.

The Ravens retook the lead in the third with two runs, but again AIC answered. Jackson Haker hit a grounder to third and sped up the first-base line, forcing an errant throw that allowed him to reach second. He took third on a passed ball, and came in when Ziemak hit a grounder to short.

From there, the home side took over; back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the fourth opened up a two-run inning, and the Ravens scored four more in the fifth to extend the lead to 9-2. They added two more in the eighth for the 11-2 final.

Brendan Edvardsen led AIC with three hits; he finished tied with Haker for the team lead with 62 total, and hit .403 on the campaign.
