Haker, Frometa, Edvardsen earn NCBWA All-Region honors

DALLAS, Texas - The National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) named its 2023 All-Region teams on Wednesday, May 18, selecting three members of the American International College baseball team to the All-East squad.

Jackson Haker and Josh Frometa earned First-Team accolades, while Brendan Edvardsen was a Second-Team honoree.

Haker, a First-Team All-Northeast-10 Conference selection at third base, was tied for AIC's lead in hits with 62 and topped the squad with 56 runs batted in; he finished the season second in the conference in RBI, third in extra-base hits, fourth in total bases, and eighth in total hits as he batted .344.

Frometa likewise was a First-Team NE10 winner as a designated hitter, and also made the NE10 All-Rookie team. His .389 average was fourth in the NE10, while his .708 slugging percentage was second, and he reached base at a .479 clip, eighth in the conference. In total, he scored 40 runs and drove in 41.

Edvardsen, First-Team in the NE10 in the outfield, was also Northeast Division Rookie Hitter of the Year after he was third in the East Region and second in the NE10 with a .403 batting average. His .662 slugging percentage was third in the conference and his .492 on-base percentage was fourth. He scored 40 times on the season and drove in 43.

As First-Team All-Region selections, Haker and Frometa will advance to the NCBWA's All-America ballot.
