Football drops NE10 battle with Bentley

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts – The American International College football team fell 62-12 to Bentley University on Saturday, October 21.

AIC is now 2-6 overall and 1-5 in Northeast-10 Conference play.

The game started with a lot of action early; Bentley took the opening drive down the field for a Mason Campbell field goal to start off the score at 3-0. Then, on AIC's second play of their first drive, 25 in-game seconds after the field goal, Sidiki Kone rushed for a 75 yard touchdown right up the middle. The extra point was blocked, giving AIC a 6-3 lead.

Bentley would retake the lead 10-6 after their QB, Mark Waid, rushed in for Bentley's first touchdown of the day, and the Falcons built upon that. The rest of the first half included a touchdown reception from Rashon Bradford and three more Campbell field goals to give Bentley a 26-6 lead at halftime.

The second half's scoring began as Bentley's first drive was capitalized with another QB keeper touchdown from Waid. Bentley would immediately follow this up with a safety on the next possession for AIC. Bentley would also pass for three more touchdowns in the 3rd quarter with two coming from Waid and the other coming from backup Brett Pullman; the receivers of these touchdowns were Pat Damon, Jonathan Oriakhi, and Bradford.

AIC did score one more touchdown in incredible fashion. Dahvey Hicks took a kickoff at the AIC end zone and busted through the Bentley defense for an NCAA-record tying 100-yard touchdown return.

The Yellow Jackets next break from conference play to visit No. 8 Ferris State University in Michigan on Saturday, October 28 at 1:00 p.m.
