Wildes' big day helps Field Hockey down Spartans

SPARKILL, New York - The American International College field hockey team won a 2-1 Northeast-10 Conference decision over Saint Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday, September 23.

AIC is now 5-2 on the year with a 1-1 NE10 record.

The Spartans were all over AIC early and struck first as Adriana Alfisi scored the opening tally at 5:06.

AIC's first shot of the game did not come until the second quarter, but the Yellow Jackets made it count. Rylee Constant's insert on a penalty corner was to Mayra Bok, who fired home her fourth of the season at 4:01 of the period.

At the opposite end, Taylor Wildes was busy, tallying a season-high nine saves in the half.

AIC's defense settled in the second half, and in the fourth quarter the Yellow Jackets broke the tie. AIC entered the circle from the right side and the ball bounded to the netfront, where Mia Wood tapped in her fourth of the season at 6:03.

The Yellow Jackets held on from there, with Wildes ending with 13 saves.

AIC continues NE10 play at Bentley University on Tuesday, September 26 at 6:00 p.m.
