Field Hockey knocks off Molloy for NE10 victory

SEAFORD, New York - The American International College field hockey team righted the ship with a 3-0 Northeast-10 Conference win over Molloy University on Friday, October 6.

AIC is now 6-5 on the campaign with a 3-4 NE10 mark.

AIC opened the scoring in the first quarter on a penalty corner. Though an initial bid was blocked, Morgan Martellio swatted the rebound home at 6:02 for her first of the year, knocking it just inside the right post.

The Yellow Jackets scored another corner goal in the second. Mayra Bok's pass to the left of the stroke dot found Mia Wood open, and she fired the ball through the five hole of Kelly Price for her team-best fifth of the year at 1:31 of the frame.

In the final period, AIC notched one more, also on a corner. Martellio was able to sweep a pass to the left for Dominique Bassallo, who cut back in and struck for her first of the season at 2:47.

Taylor Wildes only faced one shot on goal, stopping it for her third shutout of the season.

AIC returns home Tuesday, October 10 at 7:00 p.m. against Adelphi University.
