Field Hockey drops OT battle with Adelphi

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College field hockey team fell 2-1 in overtime to Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference play on Tuesday, October 10 despite a career-best 20-save showing from goalkeeper Taylor Wildes.

AIC is now 6-6 overall and 3-5 in the NE10.

Early in the second, AIC opened the scoring. A cross pass from Mia Wood found Fenna Voll open in the circle, and the rookie buried her third of the year at 1:58.

In the third quarter, the Panthers equalized, as Emiline Biggin was able to send a shot home at 5:48.

The Panthers continued to press, and controlled the game almost completely after that, but could not solve Wildes again through regulation. They threw 13 shots in her direction in the fourth quarter alone, including a missed penalty stroke, and her 10 saves allowed AIC to keep playing beyond 60.

In the overtime, the Panthers drew eight more corners and pounded 10 more shots at the target. Finally, Kylie Peregoy was able to knock one in, the 24th shot on target of the contest, to end the game at 9:22 of the extra session.

Kylee Rinker also took part in the save accumulation, with two different defensive stops on Adelphi corners; the Panthers drew a total of 26 in the game.

AIC returns to action on Saturday, October 14 at noon for the team's Senior Day Game against Mercy University.
