New Haven defeats men's basketball

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College men's basketball team fell 81-54 to the University of New Haven in Northeast-10 Conference play on Wednesday, November 30.

AIC is now 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the NE10.

The teams traded threes to open the scoring, with AIC's coming from Buka Peikrishvili, and after a brief New Haven run, AIC countered to take the lead, thanks to two baskets by Omarion Jett-Dobbs followed by a Justice Ellison triple at the 9:20 mark to give AIC a 12-11 advantage.

New Haven bounced right back to score the next 16 over a five-minute span, taking a 27-12 lead after a Quashawn Lane jumper at 14:46; Agibou Balde ended the run with a basket for AIC, which trailed 33-21 at the break.

AIC's first second-half basket was a three from Jack Hall nearly four minutes into the frame, and though he had nine points in the half and classmate Kanye Wavezwa notched three triples and 11 total points in the half, AIC could not cut the deficit down, falling by the 81-54 final.

Hall's 14 was the game-high for AIC, while Wavezwa and Ellison each had 11; Jalen Jordan led AIC with three assists and six boards.

AIC next faces Saint Michael's College on Saturday, December 3 at 3:30 p.m.
