Men's basketball drops road match at Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire - The American International College men's basketball team fell 83-64 at Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference play on Tuesday, February 7.

AIC is now 5-19 with a 3-13 NE10 record.

The Hawks quickly built a 10-2 lead before Jalen Jordan knocked down a three. The Hawks held onto the lead for awhile, but AIC began cutting it down near the midpoint of the quarter as Buka Peikrishvili countered a Hawks triple with one of his own. Jack Hall and Aguibou Balde both hit jumpers, tying the game at 18-18, and several possessions later, Jordan set up Hubb for three, giving AIC a lead.

The Hawks defense tightened up, keeping AIC from making any field goals for over five minutes. That allowed the hosts to begin rebuilding their lead, which at halftime stood at 40-31. They then added to it by converting their first three possessions out of the break, and pulled away significantly with threes on back-to-back opportunities around five minutes in, going up 54-37.

Down the stretch, the Hawks continued to be efficient from deep and at the line, and led by as much as 22 with five minutes to play, and took the game by the 83-64 final.

Jordan was AIC's top player on the evening, scoring a team-high 14 points with eight rebounds and three assists, adding two blocks while commiting no turnovers. Jusice Ellison shot 6-of-12, scoring 13 points with five rebounds, and Balde and Hall each landed 10.

AIC returns to action Saturday, February 11 at 3:30 p.m. against Le Moyne College at the Butova Gym.
