Bennett named 2022-23 Hobey Baker Award nominee

Blake Bennett of the American International College ice hockey team has been named a nominee for the prestigious Hobey Baker Memorial Award, as announced by the Hobey Baker Memorial Award Foundation on January 19.

The award is given annually to the top player in NCAA Division I men's ice hockey. First awarded in 1981, it is named after the legendary Hobey Baker, who captained the Princeton University team in the 1910s and was widely considered the first college hockey superstar prior to his death during World War I.

Bennett has had another tremendous season for the Yellow Jackets. Building on a 2021-22 campaign where he earned AHA Tournament MVP, he far and away leads Atlantic Hockey with 15 goals, the third most in the nation. He was the AHA's Player of the Month for October.

He currently ranks eighth in AIC's history in the Division I era with 38 career goals.
