Lundy's power play pair helps Ice Hockey sweep Crusaders

WORCESTER, Massachusetts - John Lundy netted a pair of power play tallies to lead the American International College ice hockey team to a 3-2 win at The College of the Holy Cross in Atlantic Hockey Association play on Friday, November 10.

AIC is now 4-5-0 overall and 3-1-0-0-0-0 in the AHA.

The Yellow Jackets got off to a rocket hot start. Off of a faceoff win by Oscar Geschwind, Casper Soderling's one-timer was deflected into the air and batted into the net by Austen Long for his second of the year at 12:27. Barely two minutes later, on the power play, Soderling set up a zone entry for Logan Jenuwine that put him in the slot in possession, and he cut to the net before dishing to Lundy on the left side, who one-timed in his second of the season at 14:35.

If the opening stanza belonged to AIC, Holy Cross came ready to control the second. Liam McLinskey put home the first Crusaders goal at 7:17, and at 18:47, Jack Robilotti tied the game on a one-timer on a faceoff win by Jack Ricketts.

However, a late penalty in the frame put AIC back on the power play and the Yellow Jackets converted. Soderling found a way to keep the puck in the zone and crossed it to Dustin Manz at the left half wall. Manz fired it to the net, where Lundy tipped in the go-ahead goal at 19:29, his third of the season.

In the final period, the Crusaders pushed hard, putting 11 pucks on Nils Wallstrom, but the rookie turned them all back, hanging on for his third win of the season. Overall, he made 37 stops.

AIC next hosts former associate head coach Steve Wiedler and the University of Vermont at the MassMutual Center on Saturday, November 18 for a 7:05 p.m. tilt. It will be Alumni Weekend for the Yellow Jackets; register for all the festivities at https://www.aic.edu/calendar/event/alumni-hockey-game-and-reception/
