GARDEN CITY, New York - An early run by the nation's fourth-ranked team was key as the American International College men's lacrosse team fell 10-3 to Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday, March 4.
AIC is now 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the NE10.
The Panthers scored twice in the final minute of the first quarter to build to a 5-0 lead and carried that run into the second, going up 8-0 before Brian McGowan hit the net for AIC. At the break, the Panthers led 9-1.
The second half was much lower scoring as AIC made defensive adjustments, and McGowan notched his second in the third quarter before the Panthers tallied late to lead 10-2 after three.
Anthony Boele then found Rusty Stone open for a shot and a goal for the only marker of the fourth frame.
Hayden Gaudette made a dozen saves in the setback.
AIC next faces Dominican on Wednesday, March 8 at 4:00 p.m.
