Men's lacrosse drops tight matchup with FPU

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College men's lacrosse team battled hard but ultimately fell 10-8 against Franklin Pierce University, which is receiving votes in the latest USILA Division II Coaches Poll, in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup on Tuesday, March 28.

AIC is now 2-6 with an 0-3 NE10 mark.

AIC struck first as Dylan Seymour set up Rusty Stone for a tally just shy of five minutes in. The Ravens tied the game shortly after the midpoint of the first, but Stone put AIC back on top 2-1 at 11:10, finishing a feed from Devon Walker. Unfortunately for AIC, the Ravens rattled off four goals in the final 2:39, and carried the run into the second, scoring 11 seconds in to go up 6-2.

The rest of the middle frame was back-and-forth. Walker scored twice for AIC and set up the other Yellow Jacket goal, a shot from the right side by Jason Vickery late in the frame, and the Ravens added three more for a 9-5 halftime edge.

The Ravens scored first at 1:40 of the third, but the rest of the half belonged to AIC. The Yellow Jackets saw Seymour notch another less than a minute later from Vickery, and Stone netted a pair of goals in the second half to cut the deficit further, but the Ravens managed to cling to their lead and earn the win.

AIC continues NE10 play on Saturday, April 1 at noon at Saint Rose.
