Gaudette, Johnson earn NE10 All-Rookie nods for men's lacrosse

MANSFIELD, Massachusetts – The American International College men's lacrosse team earned a pair of All-Rookie Team honors from the Northeast-10 Conference, which announced its 2023 honors on Tuesday, May 2.

Defender Takari Johnson and goalkeeper Hayden Gaudette were the honorees.

Johnson was a stalwart on the defensive side of the ball for AIC throughout his first campaign with the team. Through the end of the 2023 regular season, he ranked second in the NE10 with 24 caused turnovers, and his 47 ground balls was second among all non-faceoff players. He additionally scored one goal on a foray into the attacking end.

Gaudette made 198 saves for the Yellow Jackets, leading the NE10 in stops in 2023. He posted 15 or more saves in a game six times overall, with five of those coming in NE10 contests, including a 22-stop performance against No. 1 Le Moyne, and followed that game with another 22-save showing at Assumption.

The duo's awards mark the fourth consecutive season in which the NE10 announced a team that the Yellow Jackets have had two or more honorees, with a pair in 2021 and 2022 and four in 2019; due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, no team was selected in 2020.
