Six earn NEILA All-Academic Honors

SOUTH HADLEY, Massachusetts - The New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association announced its 2023 All-Academic Teams on Friday, June 23. Six members of the American International College men's lacrosse team were recognized among the record 333 total selections across NCAA Divisions I, II, and III.

The six AIC honorees were Anthony Boele, Stephen Stratton, Avery Foye, Jason Vickery, Rusty Stone, and Clark Marchand.

Per the NEILA's release, "Nominees must have senior or graduate student standing, a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale, and be an impact player for their team."

Boele played 15 games as a short stick defensive midfielder this season, scoring two goals with two assists for four points while forcing 11 turnovers and snagging 18 ground balls. He is a physical therapy major.

Stratton was a midfielder in 2023, although he has played every position for the team throughout his career. Across 12 games this season, he scored twice and added seven assists. He is a nursing major.

Foye was limited by injury but played six games on attack down the stretch, scoring six points on four goals and two assists. He is a marketing major.

Vickery likewise played up front, and in 15 games netted 14 goals and added six assists for 20 points. He ended his career in the top ten in program history in assists. He is a health sciences major and is completing his MBA.

Stone ended his career as one of the best goal scorers in program history, with 88 for his career, second-most in the over 30 years of the team. In 2023, he scored 24 times with two assists to lead the team's offense. He is a health science major.

Marchand, an elite defender, forced a team-high 24 turnovers and gathered 40 ground balls on the back end for AIC in 15 games. He is a physical therapy major.
