Men's Lacrosse comes up short against No. 11 Bentley

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The No. 11 Bentley University Falcons came away with the win despite a strong showing from the American International College men's lacrosse team in a 15-9 Northeast-10 Conference tilt on Tuesday, March 26.

AIC is now 4-6 overall and 0-4 in the NE10.

The Falcons scored first, but AIC countered in the middle of the frame, with Seven Gillingham beautifully setting up Dawson Long for an open look in front. Bentley then scored twice for a 3-1 lead, before Tyler Goode found Gillingham on a cut to the net from X in the final half-minute, pushing AIC within one at the break.

Off of the opening faceoff, the Falcons fumbled the ball and Goode took full advantage, picking it up right in front and tying the game, sparking a run for AIC. Jack Bamford found Long open to give AIC the lead, and in turn scored on a great feed from Gillingham. Bentley did get one back late in the quarter, but it was the Yellow Jackets with a 5-4 lead at halftime.

Bentley scored quickly in the third to tie it at 5-5, but the next two went to AIC, as Andrew Boyer won a battle for a rebound in front and batted in a go-ahead goal, and then Goode found Callan Dent diving into the middle for another. The goal that put AIC up 7-5 gave Goode 25 assists on the year, tying the program single-season record held by the late Aaron McNab '11.

Unfortunately, the Falcons were able to turn the game in their favor with three goals in a 1:10 span, and controlled the match from there, scoring four more to close the third and three in the fourth. AIC notched two in the final frame, with Bamford finding Goode on a man-up opportunity and Long finishing a pass from Ries Bower, but the Falcons escaped with the 15-9 win.

Shaden Shields made 16 saves in the loss.

The Yellow Jackets next visit Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday, April 3 at 7:00 p.m.
