Men's Lacrosse suffers OT setback at Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Connecticut - The American International College men's lacrosse team went back-and-forth all game long before ultimately falling, 13-12 in overtime, to the University of Bridgeport on Wednesday, March 12.

AIC is now 2-3 on the season.

Tyler Goode set up Jacob Ligor for the game's first goal, but the Purple Knights scored the next four before a penalty put AIC up a man, and Seven Gillingham set up Hunter Terlik for a tally late in the frame to shrink AIC's deficit to 4-2 after one.

AIC continued to play well in the second, scoring the first three goals to take a 5-4 lead, but the Purple Knights tied the game with 3:06 left in the half and the 5-5 score remained through to the break.

Bridgeport outscored AIC 4-2 in the third, although Goode scored once and set up Jordan Boyenko for a man-down goal.

In the final frame of regulation, the hosts took a 10-7 lead, but AIC erupted for five goals in 4:07. Ligor scored two, along with Gillingham, Cole Gaudet, and Boyenko, pushing AIC ahead 12-10.

Unfortunately for AIC, the Purple Knights rallied, scoring twice in the final minute and then winning the game in the extra session.

AIC returns to action with its Northeast-10 opener against defending national champion Adelphi University on Tuesday, March 18.
