Men's Rugby honors seniors, upends Harvard

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College men's rugby team honored its five seniors in the best way possible, hammering Harvard University from start to finish in a 62-0 rout on Friday, October 13.

AIC is now 4-3 on the season.

The first try of the game came less than six minutes in, with German Rossi putting the ball down in the Crimson try zone for the score. AIC's captain kicked the conversion as well for a 7-0 lead.

Ten minutes later, it was Nafitalai Kalaniuvalu scoring on his senior night; fellow senior Tyler Cathers put a try in about five minutes after that, and with Rossi's conversion, AIC led 19-0 halfway through the first.

Kalaniuvalu and Augusto Arguello added tries, with one more successful Rossi conversion, before the break, putting AIC up 31-0.

Afa Sanft and K.K. Kaminanga put the game out of reach early in the second, with a pair of tries in the first 10:30. Rossi converted both of those as well ballooning the lead to 45-0.

Aruguello landed another try in the 70th minute.

With under two to play, Kalaniuvalu capped the hat trick; Kaminanga added the final try of the game in stoppage time for the 62-0 final.

AIC finishes the regular season at Northeastern University at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 21.
