Men's Soccer ties Wilmington

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College men's soccer team overcame one-goal deficits in each half to draw Wilmington University 2-2 on Saturday, September 2.

AIC is now 0-0-2 on the season.

Just past the midpoint of the first half, the Wildcats struck first. A loose ball came to Jeremie Briquet, and he was able to knock it in at 22:57.

However, AIC equalized as the break neared. Marco Dasso's through ball allowed Manuel Schwarz to split the Wilmington defense, and he hit the net for his first of the season at 40:24.

Early in the second, Wilmington regain the lead, as Sora Noda tallied at 50:56 to put the Wildcats ahead again.

Once more, AIC responded. A ball dumped toward the Wilmington box was mishandled by a defender and rolled to Gabriele Valerio, who was able to cross to Simba Pelletier. The open forward had no trouble scoring his second goal in as many games at 68:27 to level the ledger once more.

From there, neither team could generate a winner, with the whistle blowing down AIC's second draw of the season at the 90-minute mark.

Lucas Morales-Fernandes made six stops in the tie.

AIC hits the road for the first time in 2023 on Wednesday, September 6 for a 1:00 p.m. start at Georgian Court University.
