Track battles at Silfen Invitational

NEW LONDON, Connecticut - The American International College track and field team competed at Connecticut College's Silfen Invitational on April 12-13.

Yulive Peralta had a strong outing, scoring in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash with seventh and sixth place finishes, respectively. Kendyl Vermette also scored with an eighth-place finish in the 10000-meter run. AIC's top showing was Deborah Ofodile, who took second in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.38 seconds, and third in the triple jump at 10.44 meters.

On the men's side, Ayoub El Fahim took the top spot in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.93 seconds. Michael Henderson grabbed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles. Both were on AIC's 4x100-meter relay team that finished sixth and Henderson was part of the 4x400-meter relay team that took fifth. 

ToRae Wright, who also was on the 4x100 squad, took sixth in the triple jump; Loudon Chupas grabbed sixth in the high jump and eighth in the javelin, and Troy Baxter also took eighth in the hammer to round out AIC's contingent of scorers. 

The team next heads to the Jack Maloney Invitational, hosted by Southern Connecticut State University, on April 20.
