Men's Volleyball falls at D'Youville, Daemen

BUFFALO, New York - The American International College men's volleyball team dropped a pair of 3-0 decisions at D'Youville University and Daemen University on January 19 and 20.

AIC is now 1-2 on the season.

The Yellow Jackets fell behind early in the first set against the Saints, conceding a four-point run to fall behind 5-1. The home side built on this lead, and although AIC closed to within four with a four-point swing of its own to make it 20-16, the Saints finished off the set with five straight.

As in the first, the Saints took an early lead, but AIC battled back in the second, taking the lead at 19-18. However, once again the home side finished strong to win the set. The third went much the same way, as AIC was even all the way through 21-21, but D'Youville ran off at the end to win the set and the match.

Pedro Panelli started AIC's battle with Daemen with an ace, but things turned quickly as the Wildcats roared in the first and won 25-9. The second and third sets were closer, but AIC never led again and dropped those 25-19 and 25-18 to fall 3-0.

Robert Santana scored 13 of AIC's 24 kills against Daemen, the high total for AIC on the weekend.

The team returns to action Friday, January 26 against Merrimack College on the road. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.a
