Men's Volleyball swept at Sacred Heart

FAIRFIELD, Connecticut - The American International College men's volleyball team fell 14-25, 9-25, 16-25 to Sacred Heart University on Friday, February 2.

AIC is now 1-4 overall in 2024.

Sacred Heart took a quick 4-0 lead in the first off of three attack errors before Robert Santana scored AIC's first kill. The Yellow Jackets closed the gap to 7-5, but the Pioneers took nine of the next 11 to pull the set out of reach and ultimately ended it on another AIC error.

In the second, the Pioneers roared out of the start, scoring 14 of the first 16 points, and ended the set with a four-point run for the 2-0 lead.

Against the deficit, AIC battled back, with a stretch of nine out of 11 points including a Collin Doyle block and Pedro Panelli ace, giving the Yellow Jackets a 13-10 advantage. Unfortunately for the Yellow Jackets, the Pioneers turned it around thereafter, using an eight-point run to lead 23-15, and a block three rallies later ended the match.

Santana led AIC with eight kills, while Alejandro Miranda scored six.

AIC returns home to face Daemen University on Sunday, February 4 at 1:00 p.m.
