Cherotich wins Suffolk Invitational to lead Cross Country

BOSTON, Massachusetts - American International College cross country was led by a first-place finish in the women's six-kilometer race by Fransiscah Cherotich at the Suffolk Invitational at Franklin Park in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday, October 14.

Cherotich was the first finisher on the day, as she crossed the line in 22:59.9, the only runner to break the 23-minute mark in the race. Kendyl Vermette was AIC's second across, at 24:34.6; overall, AIC was 12th of 27 teams competing.

The men's eight-kilometer race was run second, and AIC was represented in the top three of NCAA runners as well, as Sadadine Adam crossed the line in 25:49.1, less than seven seconds behind the top finisher. Tyler Safstrom was next in for the Yellow Jackets in 27:43.6. Overall, AIC took 14th in the 24-team field.

The team turns its attention to the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, which the team hosts at Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts on Sunday, October 22.
