GAME ONE:

  • Junior Alexis Jimenez had one of her two hits in the first inning. With two outs she singled to center.
  • Concord was able to string runners together and put a run on the board in the bottom of the second. With two outs, Jolie Privett walked to get things going. She reached second on a walk drawn by Kayla McCraw. After another walk by Concord, Aubrey Matice singled to center and drove Privett in. McCraw rounded third on the play but was punched out on a great throw by sophomore centerfield Abigail Wells and tagged by freshman catcher Trinadey Santiago.
  • In the top of the third, Jimenez singled to right and junior Mackenzie Berman moved her to second. Unfortunately, the Yellow Jackets hit into a double play that ended the inning.
  • Concord was able to keep the Yellow Jackets at bay as they took the game 1-0.

GAME TWO:

  • The two teams started the game with two scoreless innings. In the top of the third, the Bald Eagles scored three runs on two hits to take the lead.
  • AIC answered immediately and took advantage of a pair of Bald Eagle errors. Wells hit a sharp ball to second which the second basemen booted. Rookie Destiny McGrath put the ball in play and the third basemen misplayed the ball. After a pair of flyouts, Santiago doubled to left field which allowed McGrath and Wells to score.
  • Both teams added a run in the fifth inning. The Yellow Jackets' run came off the bat of Santiago and she lifted the ball to left field with Berman on third. After the left fielder caught the popup, Berman tagged and made it 4-3.
  • The Bald Eagles took advantage of an AIC error in the top of the six. They scored five runs on five hits to take the 9-3 lead with an inning and a half to go. In the seventh, they tacked a pair of insurance runs on before retiring the side to end the game.
