Softball drops tough matchups with Purdue Northwest, D'Youville

CLERMONT, Florida - The American International College softball team fell 11-2 to Purdue Northwest and 2-1 to D'Youville on Thursday, March 16.

AIC is now 2-8 on the season.

Purdue Northwest took over from the outset, scoring twice in each of the first two frames before completely breaking the game open with a six-run third. AIC's lone runs came on one swing in the bottom of the fifth as Macy Ring smacked a two-run shot, driving in herself as well as Brianna Harzula.

Against D'Youville, the Saints jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after one, but AIC held the Saints there until the fifth when they tacked on a second. That proved to be the difference, as AIC was able to bring home one run with an Abigail Wells double and Mackenzie Berman single with two outs in the seventh, but left the tying run on base.

AIC next faces Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Post University on Friday, March 17.
