Softball closes Florida trip with setbacks against IUP, Post

CLERMONT, Florida - The American International College softball team fell 8-0 to Indiana University of Pennsylvania and 12-4 to Post University on Friday, March 17.

AIC is now 2-10 on the year.

The Hawks led from the outset, scoring in the first to take a 1-0 lead and then breaking the game open in the second half, with three in the fourth, one in the fifth, and three in the sixth, which brought the run rule into effect.

Post scored its runs early; the Eagles notched two in the first and then six in the second before adding four in the third to go up 12-0. AIC battled back, with an RBI single for Sarah Falcone and a sacrifice fly by Mackenzie Berman in the third and a two-run single by Alexis Jimenez in the fifth, but the Yellow Jackets ended that frame down eight, ending the game.

AIC next visits the College of Staten Island for a pair on Thursday, March 23.
