Felician sweeps softball in nonconference doubleheader

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College softball team fell 6-1 and 11-3 to Felician University on Sunday, April 2.

AIC is now 4-20 on the season.

The Golden Falcons jumped on AIC early, opening with a leadoff home run and scoring four in the first. AIC's lone run came in the third, when Destiny McGrath laid down a sacrifice bunt to score Kodi Gora.

AIC had a better start to game two, with a leadoff single by Laila Cofone and a walk by Abigail Wells to open the bottom of the first. They both advanced a base on a passed ball, and came in when Mackenzie Berman singled to center. Unfortunately, the Golden Falcons had an answer, tying the game in the next half inning and then scoring five in the third to take a lead they would never relinquish. AIC scored one more run, a daring bunt single with a runner at third by Victoria Andrade that plated Wells in the fifth, but the Golden Falcons closed out the sweep by scoring in the sixth and seventh.

AIC resumes conference play at Assumption University for two on Wednesday, April 5 beginning at 3:00 p.m.
