SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College women's basketball team opened 2022 with a Northeast-10 Conference matchup with Le Moyne College on Saturday, January 1. Graduate Destine Perry dropped 24 points in the 71-61 loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- AIC came out slow in the first quarter and trailed 12-5 after 10 minutes of play.
- The Yellow Jackets made up for the slow start in the second quarter. Trailing 18-8 junior Zoe Willis hit a pair of freebees to get things started. Rookie J Curry found the bottom of the bucket from downtown to make it a five-point game.
- With under four minutes remaining in the half junior, Rosa Vreugd hit a triple of her own and made it a 26-24 game. After forcing a turnover on the other end, she hit another to give AIC their first lead of the game at 27-26.
- Perry gave AIC their largest lead at three with a pair of free throws but took a one-point lead, 33-32, into halftime.
- The Dolphins opened the second half on an 11-0 run and never gave up the lead as they took the game 71-61.
