HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Graduate Destine Perry hit a three with 15 seconds off the clock to get the scoring started for either team. The Knights answered with a three of their own over a minute later to move off of zero. That three started a 16-3 run over the last 8:27 as the Knights led 16-6 after 10 minutes. The run extended into the second quarter as they scored the first four points of the second stanza.
  • The Yellow Jackets put their heads down and went to work with a run of their own. A little over a minute into the second quarter, rookie Nora Young hit a layup that sparked AIC. Sophomore Kayla Robinson drained a layup while Perry swished a pair at the line. Perry extended her shot as she found nylon from deep and made it 20-15. On the next offensive possession, Perry took advantage of space to score another three, her eighth point in a minute and 19 seconds.
  • The teams battled back and forth; Queens led 30-25 at the break and held a 51-43 lead after the third.
  • Trailing 53-45 with 8:41 on the clock, Perry scored her 20th point of the night on a driving layup that she made while fouled. She stepped to the line and hit the free throw to cut the deficit down to five, 53-48. Junior Zoe Willis made it a one-possession game with a layup off an offensive rebound. On the next possession, she cut it to one with another layup.
  • That was the closest the Yellow Jackets got as the Knights took the game 76-70.
