Women's basketball drops road finale at St. Rose

ALBANY, New York - The American International College women's basketball team rounded out their regular season road schedule on Monday, February 21 at The College of Saint Rose and fell by a score of 56-42.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Golden Knights hit the first shot but junior Kyla Smith hit nothing but net from deep and gave AIC the lead. With 49 seconds left in the first quarter junior Rosa Vreugd hit a jumper to cut the AIC deficit to four as St. Rose led after 10 minutes 12-8.
  • St. Rose outscored the Yellow Jackets by five in the second frame as they led 32-23.
  • AIC trailed halfway through the third when graduate Charee Osborne got the rebound on one end and made a jumper 13 seconds later on the other. Smith finished a layup through contact and finished the three-point play at the line. On the next possession graduate Destine Perry hit a pair at the line to extend the run. The final points of the run came from senior Zoe Willis at the charity stripe where she hit a pair.
  • The Golden Knights kept the Yellow Jackets at a distance and took the game 56-42.
