Penmen defeat women's basketball

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire - The American International College women's basketball team suffered a 69-49 setback at Southern New Hampshire University in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup on Wednesday, January 10.

AIC is now 9-4 overall and 4-4 in the NE10.

Briana Lee made the game's first bucket as she earned a defensive rebound off of a Penman miss and took it up the floor to shoot and score, and Nora Young notched the game's next basket shortly after. Young also knocked in another after the Penmen posted their first points at the stripe, but the home side rolled down the stretch despite five more points by Lee, with late triples giving the Penmen a 16-13 lead at the break.

Kayla Robinson and Lee each scored early in the second to put AIC back ahead, but the lead was short-lived as the Penmen secured a 5-0 run and never trailed again, as the home side took a 35-27 lead into halftime.

The Penmen ultimately put the game away in the third, going on multiple runs, with reigning NE10 MVP Adriana Timberlake downing a pair of threes in the final two minutes to expand the lead to 54-34, and from there they simply held on to earn the 69-49 victory.

Lee was AIC's leading scorer with 17, and also added seven boards and five swipes; Robinson notched 15 points, while Porter picked up the same number of rebounds to lead the game.

AIC returns home Saturday, January 13 at 1:30 p.m. to host Pace University.
