Women's Basketball drops NE10 match at Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire - The American International College women's basketball team dropped a 77-55 Northeast-10 Conference matchup at Saint Anselm College on Saturday, January 20.

AIC is now 10-7 overall and 5-6 in the NE10.

Rhaymi Porter opened the scoring with a jumper just 11 seconds in, but the Hawks answered with an 8-0 run before a pair of free throws by Kayla Robinson broke it. AIC pulled within two, but the home side went on another 11-0 stretch to the end of the quarter to lead 24-10 after one.

The second quarter was more even, as AIC scored first on a Nora Young bucket, and the teams went several minutes without anyone scoring. The half ended with Briana Lee completing an and-one, leaving AIC down 43-31.

In the third, the Hawks pulled away, outscoring AIC 17-7 to put the game out of reach despite a strong showing by Lee. She continued to score in the fourth, but it was not enough as the Hawks took the game.

Lee posted 26 points and a game-best 15 rebounds for another double-double, shooting 10-of-18 including 2-of-2 from deep and 4-of-4 at the line. Robinson also reached double digits with 11 points.

The Yellow Jackets will rematch with Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts on Wednesday, January 24 at 5:30 p.m.
