Moody, Mikolyuk net hat tricks at No. 1 Pace in loss for Women's Lacrosse

PLEASANTVILLE, New York - The American International College women's lacrosse team opened Northeast-10 Conference play against defending national champion and No. 1 Pace University on Wednesday, March 13, falling 23-7 to the Setters.

AIC is now 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the NE10.

The high-powered Setter offense, coming off of wins over No. 4 University of Tampa and No. 5 Florida Southern College, continued to be hot, scoring eight straight and nine of the 10 in the first, with Antonella Mikolyuk finishing a feed from Jordyn Galgay for AIC's only goal. Pace notched seven more in the second to lead 16-1 at the break.

The Setters continued to press in the second half, scoring six in the third, but AIC's offense found some sparks as well. Galgay set up Kathryn Moody twice, and Mikolyuk closed out the period with a goal in the final minute. She then completed a hat trick to start the scoring in the fourth, and Moody likewise notched her third on a free position bid before the two combined for AIC's final goal of the game, with Moody finishing a Mikolyuk pass for AIC's seventh of the game. Pace scored once more right before the buzzer for the 23-7 final.

Under constant siege, Marissa Long had an impressive game in net, stopping 16 chances and scooping four ground balls.

AIC returns home on Wednesday, March 20 to host the University of New Haven at 7:00 p.m.
