Women's Rugby blanks West Chester for key NIRA win

WEST CHESTER, Pennsylvania - The American International College women's rugby team shut out West Chester University 37-0 in National Intercollegiate Rugby Association action on Saturday, October 14.

AIC is now 3-1 overall and 2-0 against NIRA Division II opponents.

Rainy weather made for a slow, plodding game, with just two first-half tries. Camryn Henderson scored the opener at 13:40, while Morgan Schechter put down the second at 27:10 for a 10-0 halftime lead.

AIC picked up where it left off in the second half, as Ivana Kiripati extended the edge to 15-0 at 48:32 and Henderson notched her second at 55:20.

Down the stretch, the Yellow Jackets broke the game open, with Kiripati, Sara Doyle, Jessica Berggren, and Venise Sanft each scoring in the final 10:43; Sanft kicked a successful conversion through the rain on her try for the 37-0 final.

The Yellow Jackets take on Quinnipiac University in an interdivisional battle on Saturday, October 21 at 1:00 p.m. in Hamden, Connecticut.
