Women's soccer suffers loss to Bridgeport

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International women's soccer team lost 2-0 in a close matchup to the University of Bridgeport on Thursday, October 28.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Purple Knights kick started the offense for tonight as they had the first shot on goalkeeper Olivia Sousa at the three-and-a-half-minute mark. To which the Yellow Jackets responded seven minutes later with their only shot on goal of the night from Nina Gamelli. Bridgeport then rounded out the first with the only other shot on goal of the half coming from Evelyn Hammer.
  • From there the matchup turned in favor of the Purpleknights when a corner kick opportunity turned goal by Leigh-Ann Ramsey at the 75 minute-mark made it past Sousa with help from Samantha St. Pierre. The tides only got worse for the Yellow Jackets as Andrea Basilicato added another to the scoreboard for Bridgeport five minutes later.
