Second-half surge powers Women's Soccer at Pace

PLEASANTVILLE, New York - A cold rain could not extinguish the fire of the American International College women's soccer team, which struck three times in the second half en route to a 3-1 win over Pace University in Northeast-10 Conference play.

AIC is now 3-1-0 on the season with a 1-1-0 NE10 record.

After a scoreless opening 45, Charlotte Bernard put AIC out in front early in the second, knocking a rebound back just past the Pace netminder at 48:09 for her second of the year.

Bernard then helped AIC double the edge; she found Gabrielle Williams free in front and Williams put in her second of the campaign at 61:29.

Pace pushed back and put a shot home of its own; Ava Viebrock scored an unassisted strike at 67:49.

However, the Yellow Jackets did not concede another real opportunity, and less than 10 minutes later reextended the lead. Hannah Storozuk and Nicole Gamberoni pushed up field on a two-on-one and Gamberoni hit the twine for her first of the season at 77:48.

Tia Kelk was the winning goalkeeper, taking the victory with five saves.

AIC returns to action Wednesday, September 27 at Bentley University. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m.
