Bernard's brace leads Women's Soccer to Senior Day win over Owls

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College women's soccer team celebrated its 10-member Class of 2024 with a 3-0 win over Southern Connecticut State University in Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday, October 21.

AIC is now 6-4-1 with a 3-4-1 NE10 mark.

The Yellow Jackets opened the scoring in the 21st minute as Leya Vohra spun a pass left-to-right to Charlotte Bernard, who fired into the top of the net for her fifth of the year at 20:50.

Then, with time winding down in the half, Bernard struck again. The senior was waiting at the top of the six and took a feed from Reese Carey from the left side of the goalpost and was able to knock it home at 44:44 for her sixth of the campaign.

The Owls pushed hard in the second half, but Sara Avery stopped all four shots she faced, and the Yellow Jackets iced the game at 57:49 with a Rachel Newman penalty kick goal, her first tally of the season.

The Yellow Jackets next head to Adelphi University on Tuesday, October 24 at 4:00 p.m.
