Women's tennis falls short at Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire - The American International College women's tennis team closed its season with a 5-2 loss at Saint Anselm College on Saturday, April 15.

AIC ends the season 1-12.

AIC took number one doubles, as Victoria Azcona and Natalija Vlacic combined for a 6-4 win over Irene Garbo and Camila Heredia Osante. However, Maria Cedeno and Charlotte Tvelia fell 6-2 to Olivia Parzick and Abigail Svor in second doubles, and with a loss at third doubles as well, the Hawks took the doubles point.

Vlacic and Garbo had a hard-fought first singles matchup, with Garbo triumphing 6-4, 7-5. Azcona earned AIC's first point over Parzick at second singles, winning 6-0 and 6-2. Cedeno likewise defeated Julia Svor 6-2, 6-3 at third singles for another point, but Julia Casaletto won 6-4, 6-3 over Tvelia to put the match away, once the points for fifth and sixth singles were added to the Hawk tally.
