SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College women's tennis team closed the spring 2023 campaign on a high note, sweeping in-city rival Western New England University 6-0 on Monday, April 24.

The Yellow Jackets controlled the doubles matches to start the day strong. Natalija Vlacic and Victoria Azcona scored an 8-2 victory at first doubles over Arriana Hasiuk and Aliza McLeish, while Maria Cedeno and Charlotte Tvelia cruised to an 8-1 win against Sydney Shepard and Gabrielle Tirkot at second doubles.

Vlacic took first singles over Hasiuk 6-0, 6-2, and Azcona similarly defeated McLeish at second singles, 6-0, 6-1. Cedeno battled Gianna Arace at third singles and did not drop a game, taking it 6-0, 6-0. Tvelia finished off the winning showing for AIC at fourth singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Shepard to give AIC the sweep.
