Tennis competes at ITA Regionals

FLUSHING, New York - The American International College women's tennis squad competed at the 2023 ITA East Regional in Flushing, New York beginning Friday, September 15. 

In the round of 128, Natalija Vlacic defeated Augustina Ravera of the University of New Haven 6-4, 7-5 to advance. Katja Milicevic fell 6-4, 6-2 to Dominican College's Angelina Amelkina, while Maria Cedeno dropped a 6-1, 6-0 score to Wilmington University's Larize Nel and Victoria Azcona fell 6-1, 7(7)-6(1) to Wilmington's Alva Norberg. 

Vlacic bowed out in the round of 64, dropping a 6-1, 6-0 decision to Elise Semmartin of Saint Thomas Aquinas College.

AIC's doubles unit of Milicevic and Cedeno put up a battle with Queens College's Kyra Bergmann and Rea Hagishima, but fell 9-7. Vlacic and Azcona dropped an 8-5 score in doubles to Semmartin and Kateryna Kryuchkova from Saint Thomas Aquinas to close out the weekend.

AIC returns home for a matchup with Assumption University on Monday, September 18.
