Track and field competes at Joe Donahue Games

BOSTON, Massachusetts - The American International College track and field team competed at the Joe Donahue Games, hosted by Northeastern University at the TRACK at new balance on Friday, December 8.

On the women's side, Monique Malcolm took eighth in the 60-meter dash, with a time of 8.20 seconds. She also finished ninth in the 300-meter dash at 42.71 seconds. Jacqueline Owens also took a scoring spot in the 500-meter dash, crossing the line at 1:28.28.

Deborah Ofodile had a strong showing, finishing fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.47 seconds, and then took third in the triple jump at 9.97 meters. 

Finally, Rebecca Toure's last legal throw was her best in the weight throw, going 12.57 meters to finish sixth.

For the men, Anthony Edokpa was eighth in the 500-meter dash in 1:19.51, and AIC grabbed three top-nine spots in the 800-meter run with David Vandi fifth in 1:57.22, Tyler Safstrom seventh at 2:01.36, and Silas Choge ninth in 2:02.55.

Joel Lisoma took fifth in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.05 seconds, while ToRae Wright was third in the triple jump; his second leap took him 12.79 meters.

The team will break until the new year; the next competition will be the I-95 Showdown at Southern Connecticut State University on January 12, 2024.
