Trio earn All-Conference as Cross Country hosts NE10 Championship

WESTFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College cross country teams competed at the 2023 Northeast-10 Conference Championship held at Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts on Sunday, October 22. Three Yellow Jackets took home All-Conference accolades for their performances.

In the women's race, Kendyl Vermette led the Yellow Jackets, taking Third-Team All-Conference honors by finishing 18th in 23:35.0, followed closely by Lillie Kaempfe, who also earned Third-Team All-Conference laurels with a 21st-place finish in 23:43.9. Grace Dervan took 24th in 24:11.8, and Nicole Widegren rounded out AIC's quartet in a time of 28:31.8.

For the men, it was close to the end, and Sadadine Adam won bronze, taking third place overall in 25:17.9 to become a First-Team All-Conference honoree. Tyler Safstrom came across next for AIC in 27:25.5, Nicholas O'Connell in 28:25.3, David Vandi in 29:17.2, Silas Choge in 29:38.8, and Gavin Gareri in 34:42.9.

The team now will prepare for the NCAA East Regional, which will be held Saturday, November 4 at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, New Hampshire.
