Alberty finishes in top 10 as Men's Golf takes fifth at NE10 Championship
CONCORD, New Hampshire - The American International College men's golf team defied expectations at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship at Concord Country Club, finishing three spots ahead of its last-place selection in the NE10 Coaches Poll to take fifth place in the two-day tournament that concluded on Tuesday, October 8.
AIC's first round was its toughest, with the Yellow Jackets as a team posting a +35 through 18 holes, although Brendan Raymond hit back-to-back birdies on 16 and 17.
The second round saw a dramatic improvement; AIC was +18 on the second stretch of day one, with seven -1s on the cards including a trio by William Alberty, who shot a one-over 71.
On the final day, the team carded nine holes total under par, including a birdie by Alberty on the final hole to secure fifth place as a team.
Alberty's nine-over score individually placed him tied for eighth among the 40 entrants, and just five shots off the lead.
