NEVILLE TOWNSHIP, Pennsylvania - The American International College ice hockey team fell 4-1 to Robert Morris University on Friday, November 29 in Atlantic Hockey America play.
AIC is now 4-10-1 with a 3-6-0-0-0-1 AHA mark.
The Colonials struck first early in the opening period, with Connor Gourley firing a shot from the left circle into the net at 3:04.
Not long into the second, AIC tied the game. Clark started the play with a brilliant pass from the left corner behind his own net that found Brett Rylance at the attacking blue line, creating a three-on-two. From there, Rylance crossed to Biro, who then found Timofei Khokhlachev in front for a shot that snuck through for his team-best seventh of the year at 4:32.
For nearly half an hour, that was it for the scoring, with the goalkeepers trading saves and stifiling chances. Late in the third, however, the Colonials pressed and forced a turnover in the AIC end, and Dominic Elliott was able to hit the net at 14:23, giving the home team the lead.
AIC had an opportunity to tie the game late, drawing a major penalty with 4:16 to play, but it was the Colonials who capitalized, with a breakaway goal by Tanner Klimpke at 16:36; the home squad added an empty netter by Gavin Gulash 23 seconds after for the 4-1 final.
AIC and Robert Morris will battle again on Saturday, November 30 at 5:05 p.m.
