BRIDGEWATER, Massachusetts - The American International College ice hockey team won a 3-1 victory over Stonehill College on Friday, January 3 to complete a season sweep.

AIC is now 6-13-1 on the campaign.

Stonehill put in a high-caliber first-period effort, outshooting AIC 13-5, but Peyton Grainer was up to the task, stifiling every puck thrown at him. That set up AIC to take the lead late in the frame, and the Yellow Jackets did when a low wrist shot off the stick of Josh Barnes hit the twine at 19:46 for his ninth of the season. Noah Serdachny earned an assist on the play, having won the puck along the wall and dished it to Barnes in the slot.

AIC's lead doubled early in the second during a four-on-four. A pass attempt from the right wing wall back to the point was detected and deflected by Timofei Khokhlachev, who gathered the puck in the neutral zone and steamed in for a breakaway, scoring his eighth of the season unassisted at 2:54.

Serdachny nearly set up Barnes a second time, springing the junior on a breakaway just past the midpoint of the period. Though Barnes was denied, he chased the rebound down behind the net and fired it back to the top of the crease, where John Lundy was waiting to slap home his fourth of the season at 11:42 for a 3-0 AIC lead.

From there, the Yellow Jackets did what they needed to do to keep the Skyhawks at bay; Stonehill did break the shutout with a Joseph Grainda goal at 5:41 of the third, but could not solve Grainer again. The sophomore ended the contest with 33 saves and the victory, his second against the Skyhawks on the season.

AIC will return to the MassMutual Center and Atlantic Hockey America play on Tuesday, January 7 at 7:05 p.m. against Army West Point.
