WALTHAM, Massachusetts - The American International College women's soccer team fell 2-0 in nonconference action at Northeast-10 Conference rival Bentley University on Wednesday, September 18.
AIC is now 4-1-0 on the season.
The first half passed by without either side scoring. The Falcons had the best chance in the opening frame, a bid from just above the 18-yard box early by Sydney O'Connor in the fifth minute, but Sara Avery leapt to get her fingers on the ball just under the crossbar and deflected it over the net.
In the second half, the Falcons hit the net. A corner by Ryenne Feeney from the right side found Abi Hennessey open near the left post, and she fired it back across into the net at 48:21.
The Falcons scored again late in the second for a 2-0 lead. Hennessey came in on a 2-on-0 tight to the net and took a shot that Avery dove to save, and then gathered the rebound. She tapped it to Sydney DeRoche, who was able to tally into the open net at 83:38.
Avery made six saves in the setback.
The Yellow Jackets next visit Rindge, New Hampshire to take on Franklin Pierce University on Saturday, September 21 at 1:00 p.m.
