SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College baseball team fell 12-3 and 17-2 to Southern New Hampshire University on Sunday, March 26.
AIC is now 5-13 and 0-4 in Northeast-10 Conference play.
Big innings were key in the first game of the set, as the Penmen notched two in the second and four in the third. AIC picked up three in the fourth on one swing, as Connor Daly cranked a deep home run to right field, but the Penmen came back with six in the following frame for the 12-3 final.
The finale was much closer than the score indicated; the Penmen had a 5-0 lead through three and a half but AIC cut into the deficit with RBI hits by Michael Cruz and Daly in the fourth and fifth, respectively. The score remained 5-2 all the way to the ninth, when the Penmen erupted for 12 runs.
AIC breaks from NE10 Northeast Division play to finish a series with Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven on Tuesday, March 28.
