Track and Field competes at William Sutherland Invitational
NEW HAVEN, Connecticut - The American International College track and field team competed at Southern Connecticut State University's William Sutherland Invitational on Friday, January 19.
AIC's women's team saw several strong performances. In the 400-meter dash, Monique Malcolm finished third in 1:02.94 and Yulive Peralta took seventh in 1:05.00. The mile had the tape broken by a Yellow Jacket, with Kendyl Vermette winning in 5:41.09; Lillie Kaempfe finished fifth in 6:13.22. Serenity Mayhew finished sixth in the shot put at 10.32 meters, while Rebecca Toure went 11.96 meters in the weight throw to finish seventh.
On the men's side, Silas Choge was runner-up in the 400-meter dash at 54.00 seconds. Nicholas O'Connell ran fourth in the 3000-meters at 9:43.67. Finally, To'Rae Wright was second in the triple jump, leaping 12.77 meters.
The team returns to action on January 26 at the River Hawk Invite.
