Pet Policy
Athletic Facilities, Offices and Grounds American International College (AIC) Department of Athletics is responsible for assuring the health and safety of all employees and users of its athletic facilities and grounds. In keeping with this objective, AIC Department of Athletics does not permit anyone to bring their pets to work or to any athletic facilities. Additionally, members of the outside community are not permitted to bring their animals on the premises. Animals may pose a threat of infection and may cause allergic reactions to other individuals. Some employees may feel threatened or be distracted by the presence of animals, particularly dogs. In addition, AIC Department of Athletics wishes to prevent pets from fouling the office space or damaging workplace property.
An employee or individual who requires the assistance of a service animal (defined by 28 CFR 36.104 as "any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability") will be permitted to bring a service animal to the athletic facilities and grounds. Employees and individuals (student-athletes, parents) associated with the college must have the service animal documented, verified and is the animal needs to be wearing the appropriate service apparel. Additionally, the animal’s presence cannot create a danger to others and cannot impose an undue hardship within the workplace. Outside members of the community will be permitted to have the assistance of a service animal as long as they have proper certification documentation.

Bringing a pet to work is subordinate to the health, safety, and comfort of persons who may come into contact with animals at the office.
The following sanctions will result as violation of this policy:
1st Offense – Verbal Warning
2nd Offense – Written Warning on-file with Athletic Department
3rd Offense – Week Suspension from Work
4th Offense – Potential Termination at the Discretion of Athletic Director
