SYRACUSE, New York - The American International College men's rugby team scored the final 78 points in an 83-10 Liberty Rugby Conference blowout of Syracuse University on Saturday, September 28.
AIC is now 4-0 overall and in the LRC.
Demitrius Ta'ape scored the game's first try just 1:02 into the contest, but the next eight minutes belonged to the home team, which scored a try, conversion, and penalty kick to garner a 10-5 advantage by the 9:20 mark.
However, the Yellow Jackets quickly filled the scoresheet from there. Ta'ape scored again near the midpoint of the half, with Rossi converting again for a 24-10 edge, and Ariel Balsamo put home a score at 36:37, with another Rossi conversion, to give AIC a 31-10 lead at halftime.
Koi took over in the second half; after Rossi scored the initial try, Koi scored the next four for a five-try day. Otsile Maphosa, Filimone Manu, and Mateo Castro each also scored down the stretch, with Rossi and Dalvin Paki each connecting three conversions, for the 83-10 win.
